Resurfacing our turf for the next generation
The artificial turf here at St Patrick’s will be resurfaced towards the end of this year. The turf has made a significant difference to our College campus since 2013. While it is perfect for physical education classes, it offers so much more. Boys, sporty or not, use it daily and it is a bustling space during school break times.
Outside of school, the turf has revolutionised sport in the eastern suburbs of Wellington. Multiple sporting codes and clubs use it, and we estimate over 3,000 hours and around 60,000 users annually.
The surface upgrade means the turf will continue to meet all health and safety standards and continue to be accredited by international sporting bodies.
‘St Patrick’s College prides itself on being a hub in the community and we are proud that our turf has become such an important place for so many over the years. We are grateful to Wellington City Council for partnering with us at the conception of this project and are thankful to college whānau and our many supporters and donors for the part they have played in making the turf what it is’, says College business manager Matt Buck.
The final push is on now to raise funds to complete the resurface. You can help by buying a virtual square metre of turf here.
