Parent Weekly Update 4 May

Welcome to the start of a busy Term 2. A reminder that all students should be wearing formal uniform this term.

DATES TO DIARY FOR NEXT WEEK:

  • Monday 7 May – Parents’ Association meet at 7.30pm in the staffroom.
  • Tuesday 8 May – Swimming sports at Freyberg Pool from 9am – 12 noon for selected students.
  • Wednesday 9 May – Football exchange for 1st XI, 2nd XI and the Colts with Palmerston North Boys’ High School in Palmerston North.

ADVANCE NOTICE: The PPTA will be holding a paid union meeting for secondary school teachers on Thursday 31 May in the afternoon at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua. School will finish at 12.10pm that day. There will be no school buses available so students will need to make their own way home. A reminder also that the College will be closed on Friday 1 June for a Wellington wide Loop Ed day for local secondary schools and also on Monday 4 June (Queen’s Birthday Monday) and Tuesday 5 June for midterm break.

FOUNDATION BENEFIT DINNER AND AUCTION: Saturday 30 June. Tickets are now on sale, book yours for a fantastic evening supporting a worthy cause! We have confirmed a fabulous speaker – Mike Allsop: airline pilot, Everest mountaineer and extreme marathon competitor – who will speak about how to achieve the challenges and goals we set ourselves. There’s also great food, wonderful company, and live entertainment from SPC students to be enjoyed, together with the silent and fast-paced live auctions. Tickets are $80 per person. We’ll seat you with a group of individuals so you can make some new friends, or gather together your own table of 10. We are also looking for auction items and would be grateful for any quality item you can donate. In the past these have included bikes, vouchers for experiences such as sailing, Weta Workshop, or coffee brewing, and tickets for the events. All proceeds from the evening benefit the St Patrick’s College Wellington Foundation, and in turn solely support SPC. In 2018 to date we have provided grants for over $60,000 to the College.
