LENT: A reminder that during Lent we try to pray, fast and give. Our focus for next week which is Holy Week is “Faith: living the values of Jesus Christ”. We continue to provide the opportunity to attend Mass at 8am each morning during Lent. Sunday 9 April – Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week. Please make a special effort to go to Mass in your Parish.
PROGRESS REPORTS: Early next week we will be publishing on the Parent Portal a comment on the academic progress for Term One of all our students in each subject. Parents can view these on the Parent Portal. Access to the Parent Portal is through our website. Go to Parent Portal – log in Report – Term One. If you have lost your log in details please call the office.
MUSIC FUTURES CONCERT – THIS SUNDAY 9 April, 3.15 – 4.00pm in the College Hall: Everyone is invited to attend a concert held in association with Music Futures. The concert features St Pat’s students and NZSO players and takes place on Sunday 9 April from 3.15-4.00pm in the College Hall. Student soloists include Ren-C Tamayo (voice), William Hughes (trumpet), Joseph Sison (piano) and Mateusz Mendrun (baritone). Otis Prescott-Mason will play in a quintet with members of the NZSO and the College Jazz Combo will also perform. Entry is by koha at the door.
DATES TO DIARY FOR NEXT WEEK: Monday 10 April – Polynesian Parents’ Association meet at 6pm in the staffroom and Women’s Group meet at 7.45pm. Wednesday 12 April – Progress Conference Day. Students only need to come into school for the duration of their appointment and there are no classes that day. Holy Thursday 13 April – Holy Week Liturgy at period 6. Term 1 ends and newsletter available. Please be aware that there will be no Weekly Notes next week.
FOUNDATION BENEFIT DINNER AND AUCTION – Saturday 17 June –We are excited to officially announce that the GUEST SPEAKER on the night is Michael Jones, ex-All Black (55 tests) and role model, particularly for Pacific Islander youth in New Zealand. Michael Jones in 1990 received a New Zealand Medal for service to the Pacific Island community. He graduated from the University of Auckland with three degrees. In 2003 he was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame. He has been given the matai title (Samoan chiefly title) of La’auli and Savae from his aiga.

PROGRESS CONFERENCE DAY: All students and their caregivers are strongly encouraged to attend a 20 minute in-depth discussion with the student’s Tutor Teacher (or another teacher allocated accordingly). Parent-Teacher-Student interviews will be conducted on Wednesday 12 April from 12 – 2pm, 3 – 5pm and 5.20 – 7pm. Students only need to come into school for the duration of their appointment and there are no classes that day. All Year 9 – 11 students will have an interview with their Tutor Teacher or House Leader. Interviews will be of 20 minutes duration. Students must attend as well. Information about how to log-on can be found on the College website.
ST PAT’S CRICKET QUIZ / AUCTION ON SATURDAY 20 MAY: Arrive 7pm for a 7.30pm start in the St Pat’s College Hall: We are asking our St Pat’s College community to support this fundraising event to send the 2017 1st XI and Development cricket teams to Australia in September / October for a pre-season tour.
This popular quiz evening includes some Fabulous Auction items, a Cash bar and some great quick fire raffles for what promises to be a night not to miss. Get together a table of 7-9 people for a fun night out. Tickets are $25 per head (which includes a light supper & nibbles), tickets are available from the (24) touring cricketers or you can contact Tracey Thomson on 021-919737 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org to secure your table. SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP NEW HOURS: With Term 2 approaching when students need to wear formal uniform each day you may need to buy some additional uniform items. The new shop hours are between 1pm and 2pm on the first Thursday of each month during term time. They will also open on the last Saturday of each school holidays between 10am and 12 noon. The shop will be open on Saturday 29 April. Pop in and pick up your winter uniform needs for next term now that the weather has turned colder. The shop has every style of coat available including some of the latest style, and are also in the process of finalising a bargain rack which will have discounted items that may need a stitch or two. Pop along and see what they have got as they are there to help.
