Dear Parents and Caregivers
Prize-giving last night – Thank you to those families who were able to attend the Cocktail Evening and our Senior Prize-giving last night. It was a wonderful celebration of our students’ successes during 2017. We congratulate Vincent Wong who is Dux of the College for 2017 and Apostoli Camberis, Proxime Accessit.
DATES TO DIARY:
STUDY LEAVE: please be aware that most senior students will be released for Study Leave on Friday 3 November. During the following week they are able to study at home or come into school and work with their teachers. The Library or classrooms are available for quiet study but we do not want seniors coming in to socialise. Students do not need to wear uniform if they are coming into school to study. For most senior students NZQA external exams start on Friday 10 November. Some seniors have been asked to continue to come to school regularly so we can help them complete internal assessments. Examination Entry slips which include every students exam timetable have been issued to senior students. They must bring these slips to every external examination. Proper school uniform must be worn to exams. Please do your best to ensure your sons are organised. Morning exams start at 9.30am and afternoon exams at 2pm. Students should be ready 30 minutes before their exams.
Junior Assessment Week starts on Monday 6 November. Juniors will have exams in most of their subjects during next week.

SURVEY ON EXCELLENCE IN BOYS’ EDUCATION: The College has been invited, as one of 35 prominent boys’ schools to be involved with a research project on excellence in boys’ education. The research is being sponsored by the Association of Boys’ Schools of New Zealand. The project will provide significant information for the school as well as for boys’ education in New Zealand. As part of the research a survey is to be emailed to current staff, parents, recent Old Boys and Trustees of the College. It will take 20 -25 minutes to complete and will be due by the 10th November. It would be greatly appreciated if you could all find the time to complete the survey. The information collected is for research purposes only and will be held in strict confidence.
A letter about the survey was emailed this week with a link to complete the survey.
SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP: The Second Hand Uniform Shop raises approximately $10,000 each year and is staffed by volunteers that are keen to provide a service to the College community. The funds raised are used to provide scholarships, hospitality events and donations to the College to purchase additional items for use by all boys. Thankyou for supporting the Second Hand Uniform Shop this year.
The Women’s Group would be most grateful for the donation of uniform items to be sold in the Second Hand Uniform Shop. Items can be dropped off at the College Office or brought to the Second Hand Uniform Shop during opening hours. If items are to be sold on commission please fill in the form available on the College website or from the office, and leave it with your items. Further information is available on the College website under the Information tab. Stock is low and next year’s Year 9 boys will be coming in to buy their uniforms from 16 December. Please drop any donations in as soon as possible after the exams. EFTPOS is now available.
