Parent Weekly Update 29 September

Dear Parents and Caregivers

LATEST NEWSLETTER: The sixth College newsletter of the year is now available on the College website via this link: https://tinyurl.com/ycvhpfml
Please read it. A summary of Term 4 dates is in the full newsletter.

ACADEMIC PROGRESS: At the end of this term all teachers of senior students will have posted a new comment on the Parent Portal summarising each student’s academic progress to date. Today senior students will also be given a hard copy of a “Tracking Sheet” showing their NCEA results so far this year. For junior students all teachers will have commented on one of the students assessments completed during Term 3.

All students need to use the holidays to have a break but also to prepare for external NCEA exams (seniors) and our school exams (juniors) which are in Week 4 of next term.

STAFF CHANGES: We welcome back from sabbatical leave both Mr Roger Powdrell and Ms Kate Southall at the start of Term 4 and thank Mr Mitch Watson (Music) and Ms Sonja Stauble for their work at the College this term.

TERM FOUR 2017: Term 4 – Monday 16 October to Friday 8 December. Students may wear summer uniform. Please remind our young men that we expect shirts to be tucked in and socks to be up.

YEAR 11 RETREAT: All our Year 11 students had two days of spiritual reflection this week. I went on the “pilgrimage” to our “Lady of Kapiti” at Paraparaumu yesterday and really enjoyed a reflective day with half of our Year 11’s.

SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP: Term 4 is summer uniform time. The Second Hand Shop is open the first Thursday of the month from 12:50 – 1:40 (during term time) as well at the last Saturday of each school holidays. Our next open day will be on Saturday 14 October from 10am – noon. Thank you to the College community for the continued support of the Second Hand Uniform Shop.

OFFICE HOURS OVER THE HOLIDAY PERIOD: The school office will be open for restricted hours during the holiday break. If you need to come to the school office please call first on 939-3070 to check that someone will be there to assist you.

Thank you for your support during a busy Term Three.

Kind regards

Neal Swindells
