Parent Weekly Update 22 September

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Thank you to the Women’s Group and all those who attended our Family Mass last Sunday. It was very special to be there as 2 of our students were baptised and 10 were Confirmed and/or made their First Holy Communion.

We had an excellent Sports Prizegiving last night. Team of the year was our 1st XI Football team and the Victor Ludorum (Sportsman of the Year) was Liberato Cacace.

DATES TO DIARY: Wednesday 27 September – Board of Trustee meeting at 6pm in the Colin Boardroom. Parents are most welcome to attend. Friday 29 September – Term 3 ends. Newsletter available and NCEA Tracking sheets will be posted home.

YEAR 11 RETREAT: All Year Eleven students will be on Retreat on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th September. One of the days will be a pilgrimage from St Patrick’s College to Our Lady of Lourdes – the statue of the Madonna at Paraparaumu. On the other day, students will meet in the Hall where they will do a Special Character Day with the Young Marist Team under the guidance of Father Mark Walls SM.

The following classes will go on the pilgrimage on Wednesday 27th September: Ms Parkinson’s RE101 class, Mr Atkinson’s RE102 class, Mr Silvester’s RE102 class; and Fr Crawford’s RE102 class. The following classes will go on the pilgrimage on Thursday 28th September: Mr Atkinson’s RE101 class, Ms MacLeod’s RE102 classes, MsmCuttance’s RE102 class.

The Retreat will be run during usual school hours. On the day your son does his pilgrimage, he can wear tidy mufti clothes and must bring lunch, as there is no opportunity to purchase food. The cost of the day is covered by the $30 donation which has been requested in your School Fees statement. Permission slips have been given out in RE classes. Please return the permission slip ASAP. CHESS CLUB MOVIE FUNDRAISER: help get the Saint Patrick’s Chess Club to nationals. “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” at Lighthouse Cinema, Cuba Street, Petone on Monday 25 September at 6.30pm. Tickets $20 and can be purchased from the St Pat’s Cashier.

KNOWLEDGE SHOP: NCEA 1 and 2 Exam Preparation Programme. Booking is open for the St Patrick’s College NCEA Preparation Programme. This highly successful programme will be run by Knowledge Shop in the first week of the upcoming holidays from Monday 2ndOctober to Friday 6th October. Subjects offered include English, science, maths and study skills. The aim of the programme is to assist students to achieve the very best possible results in the end-of-year NCEA exams. Students can book single or multiple sessions. Subjects are taught by highly regarded, current NCEA teachers from around New Zealand. Classes are limited to only fifteen students per group, and as we are expecting a sell-out, it is important to book early.
